Poll Predictions, Week 1: Where Will The MWC Big Three Land In The Polls?

Holger DanskeSep 6, 2010

Lets have a contest.  We are going to see who can guess where TCU, BYU, and Utah will appear in  the AP and Coaches polls that come out tomorrow.

AP Poll

TCU: Last weeks ranking, #6.  This weeks ranking, #5.  TCU didn't do anything spectacular.  They did dominate the stat sheet but Oregon St. managed to convert on the 2 Andy Dalton Ints to make the game appear closer than it actually was.  They move up one spot because of Florida's missing offense.  I think Boise St. will defeat VT, so the Broncos stay ahead of the Horned Frogs for now.

Utah: Last Weeks ranking, #28.  This weeks ranking, #21.  They may deserve to be ranked higher, but like TCU, they played well but didn't do anything spectacular or unexpected.  They were favored by 3 points and they won by 3 points.  They probably pass Cincinnati, Stanford, West Virginia, Oregon St., LSU, North Carolina, and Pitt.

BYU: Last weeks ranking, #34.  This weeks ranking, #29.  I think they are better than #29, but beating a middle of the pack PAC 10 team by 6 at home doesn't move you that far up the latter, especially when most teams ahead of them either crushed an cupcake or defeated their BCS opponents.

Coaches Poll

TCU: Last weeks ranking, #7.  This weeks ranking, #5.  They will pass Florida for the reasons mentioned above and they move ahead of the loser of the VT vs BSU game.

Utah:  Last Weeks ranking, #24.  This weeks ranking, #19.  I think they pass Oregon St, North Carolina, Pitt, probably Auburn and Maybe LSU.

BYU: Last weeks ranking, #28.  This weeks ranking, #23.  They pass Houston, Cincinnati, Oregon St., Pitt, and North Carolina,.

The Contest

OK, here's how the contest works.  Every Saturday night I will present my pics with their explanations.  Then I invite all of you to post your predictions.  For each pick you get correct, you get a point.   Each weeks results will be posted in the next weeks post.  The person who has the most  points at the end on the season will win a small prize around $20 in value.

Let the games begin.
