BCS Busting: 10 Reasons The Boise State Broncos Will Go To The BCS Title Game

Elias TrejoSep 3, 2010

The Boise State Broncos are about to crash the BCS party scene again in 2010. The BCS is more about tradition than it is about finding a true champion, but lately the Broncos have made it a tradition to crash the party.

This year the Broncos are looking to crash the BCS Championship Game.

The Broncos have perhaps their best shot in history to make the BCS National Championship Game.

I've created a scientific formula to see how the season will turn out. You don't have to know how it works and it doesn't have to make sense to you. Why should it? The BCS System doesn't?

Here are ten reasons why the Broncos should make the BCS Title Game this season.

Not the Same Team That Lost to Georgia In 2005

The last time the Broncos opened the season visiting a powerhouse from a BCS conference was in 2005. At the time the Broncos were ranked 18th and they visited the Georgia Bulldogs who were ranked 13th.

The Broncos had yet to play in a BCS game and nobody thought they deserved to. Everybody was proved right when the Broncos got hammered 48 to 13.

The 2010 version of the Boise State Broncos is much different.

From 2006 to 2009 the Broncos have won two BCS Bowl Games, while Georgia and Virginia Tech have combined to win two as well.

The Broncos had have two players drafted in the first round from 2006 to 2009. Georgia and Virginia Tech have had two players drafted in the first round combined during the same time period.

The Broncos are no longer the surprise underdog team and that was evident with their number ranking to open the season. With most of their starters returning from last years squad the Broncos are a totally different organization than they were five years ago.

Boise State Will Go Undefeated

Boise State is not all about offense and trick plays anymore. They now field a team with more talent and they can play defense.

Boise should be able to run the table and go undefeated and have two quality victories over Virginia Tech and Oregon State. Both of those teams could also win their conference which would solidify the Broncos chances of playing in the title game.

SEC Will Not Have Any Teams Go Undefeated

Alabama is a very strong team, but I don't see them going undefeated this season. The SEC is the nations strongest conference and they will beat each other up during the season.

It will be very hard for any team in the SEC to go through the season without a loss or two.

This will make for a controversial decision when the Broncos are 12-0 and the Crimson Tide is 11-1.

Lane Kiffin and the USC Trojans have a very talented team. They will beat most of the teams in the Pac-10 and will make it hard for any team in the Pac-10 to go undefeated.

I don't see the any other team in the conference that could run the table and I don't see the BCS people choosing a one loss team over an undefeated BSU team.

The Media Has Fallen In Love With the Broncos

There will be plenty of eyes on the Broncos this year especially if they start off with an impressive win over Virginia Tech.

The Media likes to stir things up and get fans all hyped up when it comes to the BCS.

Don't under estimate the power of the medias influence on people. Look for the Media to lead the charge for Boise State to play in the BCS Title Game.

Chris Peterson

The best thing that could have happened to Boise State was Dan Hawkins leaving for a bigger program. Chris Peterson is one hell of a coach and the Bronco Nation should be very glad to have him on their sideline.

He is a gutsy coach who is not afraid to make the big calls in crucial moments of the game.

He is a great motivator and will find ways to make sure his team is ready to compete and win every game.

Defense

Lost in all the points and trick plays that the Broncos run is their defense.

The Broncos defense looked impressive in 2009 as they stopped the Oregon Ducks early in the season and TCU in the BCS Bowl Game.

While they lost their best player, they still have a solid unit. Look for the Broncos Defense to come up big against Virginia Tech in the opener and carry the momentum all the way to the BCS Title Game.

Kellen Moore

Kellen Moore is entering his third year as a starting quarterback for the Broncos. He is big game tested and he is very poised in the pocket.

He doesn't make too many mistakes which is very important for a quarterback and his team. He has thrown 13 interceptions in two seasons which is great especially when you compare that to his 64 touchdown passes.

He is the leader of the Broncos offense and has the experience needed to help the Broncos get to the title game.

Ohio State Will Be Only Undefeated BCS Team

The Ohio State Buckeyes look like they could be the only undefeated team in the nation from a BCS Conference.

Not because they are the best team in the nation, but because they don't have to much competition within their conference.

If Boise State and Ohio State are the only two undefeated teams in the Nation the BCS Committee should have an easy decision right?

The BCS Committee Makes the Right Decision

If all my scientific predictions are correct that means the BCS committee will have to choose between an Undefeated Boise State and Ohio State and a one loss SEC Team.

Normally the one loss SEC team deserves it over an Undefeated Big Ten Team, but this season is different.

The media and the fans will demand a clash of the two undefeated teams in the Nation. The talk about a playoff will once again come up as someone will get the short end of the stick.

I don't see the Broncos getting left out for the second year in a row.
