Top Uncommitted QB Recruit Brett Hundley Ready To Make His Decision
Brett Hundley, the top uncommitted quarterback, won't be on the market much longer.
According to a statement released on Hundley's Facebook account, he's already made his verbal commitment and will announce his decision on September 6.
"I just want to inform everyone that I have made the decision on my commitment. My family and I would like to thank everyone for your understanding and patience while I looked at the numerous quality programs that extended offers to me to continue both my academic and athletic future.
"I understand how important this week will be for my team and I to stay focused and prepare for an important and meaningful game this week. I have decided to make my decision known on Monday, September 6, 2010. I appreciate all the support that my family, coaches, friends, and the entire chandler community has given me throughout this journey, and wish to thank all.
"Since my decision was made this evening, we will be arranging a time and place for my decision to be made public. Thank all, and God Bless."
Hundley is ranked as the No. 6 quarterback on Scout and the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback on Rivals. He's by far the top uncommitted quarterback left from the the 2011 recruiting class and had narrowed his choices down to UCLA and Washington before making his verbal commitment.
For months it appeared Hundley was leaning toward Washington, but recently speculation has arisen that UCLA is the lucky winner in this sweepstakes after what was described by all parties as a very good visit to the campus a couple weeks ago.
That talk of Hundley opting for the Bruins picked up steam when he cancelled a weekend visit to Washington and then made the announcement that he'd made his decision.
But does the cancellation mean that his trip to UCLA went so well that he didn't feel the need to return to Washington and was ready to commit to the Bruins?
Or that it didn't go well enough and was enough to convince him he belonged at Washington without needing another visit?
Hundley has visited Washington's campus twice this summer and is very familiar with the program.
He knows what the Huskies have planned for him and exactly how they hope to utilize him in the offense.
No doubt, the topic of Washington's potential trifecta has come up in talks between the two sides. The Huskies ultimate goal this summer was to secure commitments from 5-star tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, 5-star wide receiver Kasen Williams, and lastly Hundley.
So far the Huskies are two for two, with Williams committing to the program on Friday. Hundley remains the missing piece to what could be a killing of offensive talent for Washington.
Hundley announced that he was ready to make his decsion shortly after Williams put on his Huskies' cap.
Maybe that was what he needed to see?
But all we have at this point are a bunch of maybes and you can spin this anyway you want.
Check back on Monday, September 6 to find out where Hundley is going.
In the meantime, you can check out this breakdown of the situation to give you a better idea of what's in store for Hundley at each program.
