English Premier League Young Stars: U-22 Buds to Blooms
It's the cycle that every fan enjoys despite the current state of affairs of any club: young players burgeoning into the stars of tomorrow.
The future rests in the prime years of the young stars awaiting their turns to make history and set their names amongst the great Premier League performers.
Some have developed into blooming playmakers, while others are on the cusp of accomplishing the same feat, but are still a couple of seasons from establishing themselves at the highest level in England.
Fabian Delph, 20, Aston Villa
1 of 10
Measuring at just 5' 9", this speedy midfielder will be special in time.
But after suffering a knee injury in April, Delph isn't set to return to action at least until December.
Despite the struggles. Villa is undergoing with the resignation of manager Martin O'Neill, there is a small bundle of future stars ready to hit the Premier League running at Villa Park.
Nathan Delfouneso, 19, Aston Villa
2 of 10
Another of Villa's up and coming youngsters is striker Nathan Delfuoneso, a 19-year-old with great finishing skills in the air and on the ground.
At 6' 1", he has the height and athleticism to jostle in the air with defenders, but also possesses the footwork the dribble around them.
Once space opens up on the roster, possibly through a John Carew transfer, Deluoneso is a young, but great option in the final third.
Dan Gosling, 20, Newcastle
3 of 10
Dan Gosling is sidelined with a knee injury until later this season, but it didn't stop Newcastle from acquiring the youngster for the club's return to the Premier League.
The midfielder made great progress during his time at Everton, and his skill set will be valuable for a Newcastle side hoping to make its return to the top flight a long-term stay.
Gosling provides box-to-box play on offense and defense and should be a solid anchor in the midfield.
Jack Rodwell, 19, Everton
4 of 10
With the talent Everton can select in the midfield, Jack Rodwell is still a little ways away from solidifying his name as a first-11 selection.
He's a big force on the ground and in the air, but there are simply too many names in front of his for manager David Moyes' plans.
Still, his future for the club and country looks bright.
Victor Moses, 19, Wigan Athletic
5 of 10
For what he lacks in size, Victor Moses makes up in speed and agility.
The 19-year old winger/striker possesses the highly coveted skills with the ball, able to dribble around defenders with ease.
Some clubs were rumored to have an interest in Moses during the transfer season, but his youth may keep him at Wigan for at least another season.
He will be a valuable role player for a good club in the coming years.
Jack Wilshere, 18, Arsenal
6 of 10
A product of the Arsenal Academy, Jack Wilshere is beginning to receive the action he needs to develop his skills amongst some of the best competition in the world.
With Cesc Fabregas' injury late last season and extending into this year's campaign, Wilshere takes a spot in the central midfield and has already picked up an assist this year.
Just like other top clubs, Arsenal has a variety of young stars to test on the pitch.
Giovani dos Santos, 21, Tottenham
7 of 10
The Mexican international got his name on the map with a great run during the World Cup.
After a year-long loan to Galatasaray in Turkey last season, dos Santos returns to Tottenham in a substitute's role looking to build on his performances in South Africa.
Quick, agile, and clever with the ball, dos Santos could be a deadly weapon in the midfield for Spurs, a team with pace all over the pitch.
His youth may detract from manager Harry Redknapp's liking, but it is hard for him to discount the talent.
Andy Carroll, 21, Newcastle
8 of 10
Andy Carroll scored a hat trick over the weekend against Aston Villa, a further reminder that he is the real deal.
At 6' 1", he is an intimidating figure on the pitch.
But he surprisingly has great skills with the ball and the ability to dribble in traffic with defenders pestering at his feet.
Many more goals from Carroll could result in a great year for Newcastle.
Gareth Bale, 21, Tottenham
9 of 10
Gareth Bale's brilliant goal against Stoke City this weekend was a top-flight score for a youngster who belongs in the top-flight league in England.
The 21-year-old Welshman for Tottenham can play from the back third and middle third and push aggressively into the final third where he's demonstrated his potential to score and deliver.
This could be Bale's year to truly explode as one of the Premiership's top young players.
Theo Walcott, 21, Arsenal
10 of 10
This year is Theo Walcott's year.
For the past couple of seasons, Arsenal fans have waited for the 21-year-old to fill into the hype he built at Southampton.
His hat trick against Blackpool over the weekend surely brought thousands of fans at the Emirates to their feet, as all signs are pointing to this season being Walcott's finest in his young career.
Walcott's pace alone makes him a dangerous asset for manager Arsene Wenger, but should he continue to finish his chances, Arsenal will have another sure-fire playmaker for selection.
