Cesc Fabregas Pictured in Barcelona Shirt

Jamrock RoverJul 13, 2010

Good morning and as you can see I'm back to my usual early slot at last after a few weeks of my post times changing daily. I'll try to stick to this time every morning as often as possible, but until my laptop is fixed nothing can be certain.

As the celebrations continued in Spain yesterday, Cesc was seen wearing a Barcelona shirt on TV and it certainly got Twitter going last night. I've seen the footage and I'm sure the media will make what they want of it, but it would appear that in drunken antics the jersey was forced on him by Reina, Puyol, Pique, and probably a few of the other Barcelona players too.

I can understand a couple of Barcelona idiots like Puyol and Pique pulling off a stunt like that but I can't understand why Reina was involved. Maybe he was looking for a bit of attention as he never saw a minute's action at the tournament. I would imagine the Arsenal fans will give him a warm welcome when we play them in just over four weeks time at Anfield.

I'm sure that there was nothing Cesc could do about it and even if he wants to leave Arsenal he would not sink to the level of been pictured in a Barcelona jersey. Cesc has a great relationship with the Arsenal fans and I'm sure he wouldn't do anything to jeopardise  that, but I'm sure that some Arsenal fans will see it as a clear sign that he will be joining Barcelona.

Apparently the meeting that Sandra Rossell requested with our boss in South Africa was refused and Arsenal are standing firm on their statement that Barcelona's original offer was rejected and Cesc is not for sale. As long as we stick to that the only way I can see him leaving is if he requests a transfer and he has not done that—nor do I think he will.

It isn't helped by certain English papers twisting his words after the match was over. It only takes a couple of words to be changed in a sentence to change it's meaning completely and the Express has done that by quoting him as saying he is proud to "have been" an Arsenal player rather than proud "to be" an Arsenal player.

However, I expect no more from the tabloids and I'm sure the speculation will only increase between now and the close of the transfer window.

There are a few players linked today with Tasci, Joe Cole, and Schwarzer all getting their names mentioned again. I suppose they're all possibilities, and with the boss back at the club we should hopefully see a couple of deals completed very soon.

I also read that Portuguese goalkeeper Eduardo chose not to join us as he was guaranteed first team football and he got that guarantee from Genoa who he has joined. If the limit of his ambition is to be guaranteed first team football at Genoa rather than challenge for it at a much bigger club like Arsenal then we are probably better off without him.

The situation regarding Sol Campbell has become very annoying as he is off on his honeymoon this weekend and he has said he won't make a decision until he returns.

That's at the end of the month, and a team like Arsenal cannot be expected to decide whether to replace him or not until then as we may lose out on some potential targets. He has done very well since he rejoined us last January but we need to move on and get that fourth centre back the boss likes to have at the club.

Nicklas Bendtner has announced on his web site that he is to become a father and the mother to be is his girlfriend of a year. She's about 13 years older than him and has a couple of kids from a previous marriage but if he's going to have a kid with a single mother he could do worse than choose a Baroness who got roughly £400 million from her divorce settlement.

It would appear that some women do find his pink boots appealing after all. That's it for today.

Here's the offending footage of Cesc in a Barcelona shirt.

See You Tomorrow.
