Dunga Says No More, Quits.
Less than two hours after suffering a despicable loss to Holland in the Quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Dunga walked in to his press conference and told everyone exactly what they have been waiting to hear for the last four years.
However he did not appease the Brazilian press and managed to show everyone one last time what kind of coach he was. "My biggest accomplishment was the revival of the desire to play for the seleção."
The Brazilian press and the majority of the people however don't see it the same he does. While his comment is a nod to the previous World Cup Brazilian side in 2006 who all just assumed victory without any desire it doesn't place him in good standing among the nations 186 or so million inhabitants. His way to fix the problem from 2006 was to bring on other, newer players to the team. Afonso is a perfect example. He leaves Ronaldinho at home and brings Josue. He said no to Adriano but yes to Grafiti. He gets Michel Bastos to play left back instead of Andre Santos despite Bastos not playing left back for his club side.

Maybe the biggest surprise of the last four years was Dunga himself being named coach. The man had never coached a professional team, and was a huge surprise when given the nod by the C.B.F. (Brazilian Football Confederation).I have to admit however he was more successful than most, bringing home the titles in the 2007 Copá America over Argentina and the 2009 Confederations Cup as well as coming in 1st place in South American qualifying.
He left the room saying he was in charge and thus must assume responsibility, noting that it is unfair for all to blame Felipe Melo especially since it wasn't the first time a player was sent off in a World Cup match.
We now must look forward to who is going to get the call now to head the squad. 2002 World Cup Champion coach Felipão has recently returned to Brazil to coach São Paulo side Palmeiras, but it is unlikely he will be called since he has yet to coach his first game back.
Former Brazil and Real Madrid manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo is coaching Atletico-MG in Brazil and we all know he is always ready to jump into the seat once more.
Perhaps we will see a new face like Mano Menezes, coach of São Paulo giants Corinthians. He has been the most successful coach in Brazil the last four years. He currently coaches Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, two former players who are the very type he will see in the seleção.
We now must look forward to 2014, and let's all agree right now that there is no way Brazil will not win at home. Every nation that has ever won a World Cup has won at home, except for Brazil. No European side has ever won in South America and it's pretty much in the bag (I really hope).
I say good riddance to Dunga, you can now go back to cursing out journalists in the middle of your World Cup press conference somewhere else. Hopefully you follow Mike Tyson's lead and just "fade into Bolivia".
