With the World Cup in full swing, hype and speculation has reached fever pitch.

Real Betis V Real Madrid - Laliga Ea Sports

This is a question that Half Volley are hoping to resolve over the course of the month-long tournament.

We will be attempting to decide whether the public, the experts, the bookies or a computer simulation has the most accurate predictions for each of the 48-group stage games of the 2010 World Cup.

The method for this experiment will be:

THE PUBLIC: We will be taking the average of 100 World Cup predictions from members of the public, both fans and non-footballing people.

THE BOOKIES: Whichever scoreline has the lowest average odds on online betting aggregator Oddschecker will be classed as the bookies favourite.

THE EXPERT: Sarah Shephard, Senior Sports Writer for London’s Sport Magazine, will be making her scoreline predictions on the group stage fixtures.

FIFA 10: Each group match will be played out on FIFA 10 on the Playstation 3.

Who will emerge as the most accurate predictor of the 2010 World Cup?
