USA vs. England World Cup: Yet Another England Rollercoaster Ahead
It is hard to watch England play, and their opening game against "Team America" was more of the same.
There was huge hype for this month on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Both teams believed they would win the game, but it ended in both countries disappointed and with a single point.
England couldn't have started any better. From the off they were chasing the ball trying to get possession in the US half.

After four minutes, the whole of England had a smile on their face as they saw Steven Gerrard sliding on his knee towards the corner flag after scoring England's first goal of the finals.
From a throw on, quick passes got the ball to Heskey, who spun the ball around his defender and on the the foot of Steven Gerrard.
One touch to control, and another on the outside of his boot, sent the ball past Tim Howard in goal, and into the back of the net.
England then had their foot ahead of the Americans until five minutes from half time.
Dempsey ran towards the England back four. He got held up, but then turned his opponent. He then took a easy shot which rolled towards Green.
The nerves must have got the better of him as he fumbled the ball. It skimmed of the pitch and slipped through his grasp. The ball rolled over the line with Green crawling after it.
From then on it was nerve-raking and agonising. Both teams had chances, but neither team could get the finishing touch.
The second half was edge of the seat action. Green payed the country back by pulling off an incredible save at his near post. He flicked it onto the post and kept the score at 1-1.
Chance after chance went begging for both sides, which wont do either side any good in the group.
There is nothing to worry about. We need to remember, 44 years ago England drew their first game in the finals to Ireland. They then went on to win the tournament.
Its not all bad for England, but its not too good either.
England's top man, Wayne Rooney didn't perform to what we expect of him. He was running around like a madman, which is usual, and he had a pop or two at goal, which pulled off good saves by Howard.
However, his control and passing was a bit skewed. Also, when he went on his runs he seemed to lose possession much more frequently.
A few days ago, I wrote an article which wasn't very nice, entitled '22 Mighty Lions and Emile Heskey'.
However, I take back some of my words. There were still a few errors made by the striker, but as a fan who disliked him since his goal in 2001 against Germany, I think he played pretty well.
He doesn't know what the offside rule is as he was caught nearly every time. And as he is a striker you expect him the score when he is one on one and not kick it straight at the keeper.
He won nearly all of his challenges in the air, set up the goal, get good tackles in and pulled of some good passes.
This is only the first game. You can't write England off yet, and we are still in with a chance of winning the tournament.
Their next game in on Friday, so there is a week to prepare the team, and get the fired up.
Come on England!!!
