Zaakir HoosenJun 2, 2010

After a surprising first 30 minutes which saw Zimbabwe go on the offensive and look almost certain to score against the No. 1 ranked team in the world.

Zimbabwe, lead by the Manchester City (currently on loan at Sunderland) forward Benjani Mwaruwari in the biggest footballing fixture in their history.

Brazil looked somewhat stunned by the attacking ability of Zimbabwe, who played in-front of an almost capacity crowd at the Harare National Stadium. Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai were also present to witness the Former World Champions play.

Coach Carlos Dunga put out his best team, with the likes of Robinho, Kaka, and Luis Fabiano all on the field. A major negative sign was the lack of pace that Lucio had, especially againgst the Zimbabwe left winger.

Nevertheless the Samba Boys weathered the storm, and late into the first half right-back Michel Bastos converted a free-kick with a sublime strike.

Minutes later Robinho made it two from a through ball from Maicon. Zimbabwe, who deserved something for their efforts, went into the half two goals down.

In the second half Dunga gave an opportunity to Luisao, Dani Alves, Julio Baptista, Nilmar, and Grafite.

With majority of the possesion time, Brazil continued to control the game with inter-passing and movement that reminded you of the Brazil we know.

After some excellent inter-play, Alves burst into the box feeding Elano with an easy tap in to secure a three goal victory for the South Americans.

Dunga would have been satisfied with the outing, as Brazil was tested in the initial stage,s but after some time they were able to take control and dominate the game.

Brazil will now continue their preparation before jetting of to Tanzania for their second friendly against the host in Dar es Salaam on Monday.

News regarding Julio Cesar is still not clear as the Inter-Milano goalkeeper was subbed early in the first half, which could only suggest an injury, something the Brazilian hoped would never happen.
