Five observations from Saturday in sports…
1. The real life Hoosiers story continues. Here’s a scary thought; as good as Butler has been this year, they will be only losing one contributing player off of this team. Could we be looking at the preseason Number One to start the season next year?
2. You have to feel awful for Da’Sean Butler of West Virginia. The biggest moment of his young life and ends up getting a knee injury. I hope he can look back later in life and appreciate the experience he had this weekend because it doesn’t happen to everyone.
3. Both teams in the National Championship game tomorrow night are pretty similar. Neither has what you consider a huge star carrying them and they both play really solid team basketball. It should be a pretty entertaining game.
4. Milwaukee’s chances for a NBA playoff run took a serious hit with Andrew Bogut destroying his right arm last night. That’s a tough break for a team that had been playing really well over the last few weeks.
5. One team I looking forward to watching in the NBA Playoffs is Oklahoma City. It’s nice to see that franchise can still be competitive by drafting the right guys and getting them to buy into a philosophy. Unfortunately, the way economics works in the NBA, they probably won’t be together for a long time.
Five top performances from Saturday…
1. Kyle Singler, Duke F: 21 pts, 9 reb, 5 ast in Duke’s 78-57 National Semifinal win over West Va.
2. Gordon, Hayward, Butler F: 19 pts, 9 reb in Butler’s 52-50 National Semifinal win over Michigan St.
3. Andre Iguodala, Sixers F: 33 pts, 8 reb, 11 ast in PHI’s 128-123 OT loss to TOR
4. Jaroslav Halak, Canadiens G: 26 svs and 2nd straight SHO in MON’s 3-0 win over BUF
