Seth Curry Traded to 76ers from Mavericks for Josh Richardson
The Philadelphia 76ers traded guard Josh Richardson and the No. 36 overall pick in Wednesday night's NBA draft to the Dallas Mavericks for Seth Curry, the team announced.
That move comes on the heels of the Sixers reportedly trading Al Horford, the No. 34 pick, a conditional 2025 first-rounder (1-6 protected) and the rights to Serbian guard Vasilije Micic to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Danny Green and Terrance Ferguson.
The Sixers also drafted Kentucky guard Tyrese Maxey and Arkansas guard Isaiah Joe, clearly emphasizing perimeter scoring and shooting as the team looks to reverse course after a disappointing 2019-20 season.

Re-Drafting the 2020 NBA Draft
Big changes have come to Philadelphia. New president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has been tasked with surrounding Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons with a complementary roster, while new head coach Doc Rivers will look to build the optimal system around the two stars.
It isn't hard to see that surrounding the pair with shooting is the priority. While players like Horford and Richardson are talented, they were never good fits next to Embiid and Simmons, killing the team's floor spacing and offensive flow.
Curry is a far more natural fit. The 30-year-old gunner is a career 44.3 percent shooter from three and could reprise the two-man game with Embiid that J.J. Redick once filled, running around screens and receiving Embiid handoffs for open perimeter looks.
Curry also has a very reasonable three years and $24.4 million left on his deal.
In Curry, Green, Maxey and Joe, the Sixers opened up the floor significantly around Embiid, Simmons and Tobias Harris. Add in players like Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz, Mike Scott and Ferguson, and the Sixers suddenly have plenty of options on the perimeter.
Milton and Maxey give them combo guards to take some of the playmaking responsibility off of Simmons. Green and Thybulle are three-and-D options. Curry, Korkmaz and Scott provide shooting.
The team still needs to address the backup center position, a necessity given Embiid's injury history—and there will remain questions about who takes the shot late in close games—but the Sixers look like a much better team than they did when Wednesday began.
