Liverpool Transfer News: Nathaniel Clyne Reportedly Set to Remain at Anfield
Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne is reportedly set to remain at Anfield into the new campaign, as he has impressed in pre-season and manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to deploy Joe Gomez more regularly as a centre-back.
Per David Lynch in the Evening Standard, the 27-year-old had been tipped for a potential move in order to find more game time away from Anfield, but he has now worked his way into Klopp's plans for the 2018-19 season.
Clyne only made three Premier League appearances for Liverpool last term as he was sidelined due to a back injury.

In his lengthy absence, Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold impressed in the right-back position, with the latter subsequently earning a call-up to the England squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 19-year-old will likely be Liverpool's starting right-back for 2018-19.
But if Gomez, 21, is being primed to partner Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence, then Clyne's opportunities now he has returned to fitness will be much more regular.
He could even open the season in the starting XI against West Ham United on Sunday as Alexander-Arnold has only recently returned to training due to the World Cup, per Lynch.
Liverpool will be looking to compete for silverware on multiple fronts in the coming campaign and will need depth in every position.
Clyne and Alexander-Arnold could work very well in tandem on the right of defence as the former Southampton man boasts plenty of experience while the Liverpool academy graduate is still quite raw.
