Mohamed Salah Breaks EPL Scoring Record, Liverpool Beats Brighton 4-0
Mohamed Salah set the new record for goals scored in a 38-match Premier League season in Liverpool's 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, bagging his 32nd of the campaign.
The Egyptian broke the record he previously shared with Luis Suarez, Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half:

Dejan Lovren added to the lead before half-time, and Dominic Solanke scored his first Premier League goal after the break. Andrew Robertson also got on the scoreboard.
Here are some takeaways from Sunday's match.
Salah Earned His PFA Player of the Year Award
Whether you think Salah or Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne deserved the PFA Player of the Year award more likely depends on your criteria for the trophy or allegiance to each team. Yes, the Citizens dominated on their way to the title, and De Bruyne was a massive reason why.
But if the scoring record isn't enough to change your mind, perhaps this statistic will:
Salah didn't pad his stats with hat-tricks against relegation candidates. In an age where top strikers are routinely criticised for disappearing in the top matches, Salah scored against all but two Premier League teams. That's an incredible achievement and makes Salah even more value to the Reds.
Another Day, Another Argument for VAR
Liverpool led by two goals at half-time, taking much of suspense out of the match and making fans forget all about the fact they were denied multiple penalty shouts once again. A clear foul on Salah and a handball in particular could―and perhaps should―have resulted in penalties, per ESPN FC's Glenn Price:
La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga will all have VAR next season, and while the system won't pick up on every single mistake the officials make, it will be an improvement on the Premier League's approach.
Solanke's Audition Goes Well
Solanke has gotten somewhat lost in the striker mix for Liverpool this season, which makes sense given the Reds' great attacking form. He got his chance to start Sunday, and while he missed one big chance before half-time, he made up for it with an expert finish after the break.
Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe was happy for the former Chelsea man:
The 20-year-old needed a positive outing like that to position himself well going into summer and show manager Jurgen Klopp he can play a bigger role next season.
Robertson's Reward
While Salah's signing and subsequent scoring form stole all the headlines, one could easily argue Robertson was an even better value signing than the Egyptian last year. Per James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, he cost the club a modest £10 million, and no one likely expected him to play such a major role so soon.
Fans were more than happy to see him get his first Premier League goal for the Reds on the final matchday:
What's Next?
Brighton's season is over, while Liverpool still have the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid on their schedule. That match will be on May 26.
