Champions League Results 2018: Top Scorers, Odds After Semi-Final Leg 1 Scores

Gianni VerschuerenApr 25, 2018

Real Madrid took a big option on a ticket for the UEFA Champions League final on Wednesday, beating Bayern Munich 2-1 in Germany despite a poor showing from top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portugal international couldn't add to his 15 goals in the tournament this season, even though he had the ball in the net after controlling it with his arm at one point. Robert Lewandowski also failed to find the target.

On Tuesday, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were the stars in Liverpool's 5-2 win over AS Roma.

Liverpool: 6-4

Real Madrid: 6-5

Bayern Munich: 5-1

AS Roma: 33-1

Top Scorers

1. Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid, 15 goals

2. Mohamed Salah, Liverpool, 10 goals

3. Roberto Firmino, Liverpool, 10 goals

4. Sadio Mane, Liverpool, 8 goals

5. Wissam Ben Yedder, Sevilla, 8 goals

Advantage Real

Bayern dominated the bulk of the first half but failed to turn their dominance into a significant lead, and Marcelo tied things up just before half-time, wiping out a great goal from Joshua Kimmich.

It gave Los Blancos the all-important away goal and a ton of momentum heading into the second half. Manager Zinedine Zidane brought on Marco Asensio to start the second period, and the former Mallorca man promptly gave his team the lead and the eventual win in the 57th minute.

Both teams' top forwards didn't factor into the scoring and had difficult outings. Lewandowski had a huge miss toward the end of the contest, while Ronaldo's most eye-catching moment wasn't much better:

He did finish one chance after the break, but the official correctly took away the goal for a handball.

Liverpool Cruise but Can't Finish the Tie

Salah and Firmino both bagged two goals in Liverpool's 5-2 win over AS Roma, and the duo became just the second in the competition's history to score double-digit strikes in the same season:

A late defensive collapse gave Roma some faint hope ahead of the return leg, though. Star forward Edin Dzeko got on the scoresheet to reduce the five-goal gap, and the Giallorossi converted a penalty shortly after through Diego Perotti.

It's hard to ignore that Roma qualified for the semi-finals in a similar situation―they turned around a three-goal deficit in Rome against Barcelona. The Catalans' attack wasn't clicking like Liverpool's, however, and it's hard to see Salah and Co. get shut out at the Stadio Olimpico.

While this tie isn't over, Liverpool are the clear favourites to advance to the final.
