PFA Awards 2018: Date, Time, Live Stream and Nominees List

The standout individuals from the 2017-18 season will be recognised on Sunday at the Professional Football Association Awards.

The Men's Player of the Year gong has got plenty talking in the buildup to the event, with Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah in a tight battle for the prize. In addition to De Bruyne, City have two more players shortlisted in David Silva and Leroy Sane.

The Women's Player of the Year award will also be dished out, with five of the six nominees from Chelsea. In addition, there will be the Men's and Women's Young Player of the Year accolades for two of English football's brightest stars.

The PFA provided a breakdown of the nominees in each category on their official Twitter account:

"The PFA Awards is always a special occasion and one of the biggest nights in football’s social calendar," said PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor, per the organisation's official website. "For the winners who are honoured at the awards, there can be no greater personal accolade than that of being recognised by your peers; an honour to be cherished."

Despite the dominance enjoyed by Manchester City in the Premier League this season, Salah is currently the favourite to edge out De Bruyne on Sunday.

To win the award would be a testament to the remarkable campaign the Egyptian has enjoyed. Before Liverpool's match with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, he had netted 30 goals in the Premier League. As noted by ESPN UK, it's an incredible haul:

Salah has really come into his own since the turn of the year, too, with Liverpool thriving under the guidance of manager Jurgen Klopp.

Deployed in an advanced role on the right flank, his ability to cut inside, link with team-mates and finish with such composure has made Salah a huge asset to Liverpool. His blistering speed and balletic balance make him tremendous to watch, too.

Still, some will argue that De Bruyne, who has been the orchestrator-in-chief behind the champions, is more worthy of the gong; he has 15 assists and seven goals this term and, as noted by Daniel Taylor of the Guardian, conjures moments that take your breath away so often:

Sane and Harry Kane are included in the Young Player of the Year category as well as the senior award alongside Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Ederson. The final nominee is Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon, who has been in sizzling form in the Championship.

As the man himself noted after the recent EFL Awards, he has already cleaned up plenty of individual gongs this term:

Sane and Sterling appear to be the favourites in this category, though, as they've provided a consistent and thrilling threat on the flanks for City. In addition, Liam Twomey of ESPN FC suggested the Young Player bracket may require some revamping:

The Women's Player of the Year category is dominated by Chelsea stars, as they currently lead the way in the Women's Super League 1. They have a three-point advantage over Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

Ramona Bachman, Millie Bright, Fran Kirby, Maren Mjelde and Ji So-Yun are in contention from the Blues, while City midfielder Jill Scott is the other player in the race for the accolade. Kirby is arguably the favourite to prevail, as she's been on the scoresheet 20 times already this season.
