Liverpool vs. Manchester City
The Reds will hope home advantage can play a major role in the first leg of their tie with City, knowing their opponents have the Premier League title all but locked up and can focus on the European campaign.
City can win the English title at the weekend and would love to do so against rivals Manchester United on Saturday, but the Champions League is more important at this point.
There's little doubt City manager Pep Guardiola will make sure his players know Wednesday's match is the priority.
Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has dismissed notions that Anfield may give the Reds a major advantage, speaking to the Daily Mail (via Football365):
Liverpool won the last outing between these two clubs, a 4-3 thriller at Anfield in January that will go down as one of the best contests of the Premier League season. It's a result the Citizens would likely settle for this time―the three away goals would more than make up for the one-goal deficit.
The Sky Blues have won five in a row in the Premier League, conceding just two goals in that span. The Reds have also been solid in defence of late, conceding four in their last five in the league.
Barcelona vs. AS Roma
According to the oddsmakers, Wednesday's other match won't be a tight affair.
Barcelona enter the contest in good form, losing just a single match since the turn of the year. They are unbeaten in La Liga this season and could afford to rest a numbers of starters at the weekend, even if Lionel Messi had to come off the bench to salvage a draw against Sevilla.
The Catalans had no business taking anything from that match, but the manner in which they turned things around in just minutes speaks to their immense talent.
Messi is the unquestioned leader of the squad, and he's been rather good against Italian clubs in the past:
Don't sleep on the Giallorossi, though. Roma had won four in a row in all competitions before their draw against Bologna on Saturday, and they also opted to rest a couple of starters.
Edin Dzeko will return to the starting XI to reinforce a deadly attack, while Lorenzo Pellegrini will hope to continue his breakout campaign.
Dzeko came off the bench against Bologna to score his first goal since the last-16 win over Shakhtar Donetsk on March 13, earning some much-needed momentum ahead of this massive tie.
