Morata appears to have paid the price for some poor recent form and strong competition for places with in-form strikers Diego Costa, Iago Aspas, Lucas Vazquez and Rodrigo Moreno all having made the squad.
There is also a strong Real Madrid influence with the club having supplied six players. Sergio Ramos captains the team and youngsters Isco and Marco Asensio have become key players for the national side under Lopetegui.
Friday's game promises to be an intriguing contest between two quality sides, although the hosts do look to have more options and, with home advantage, may just have the edge.
