La Liga Results 2018 Week 27: Final Scores and Updated Table After Saturday

James DudkoMar 3, 2018

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 300th and 301st goals in La Liga to help Real Madrid beat Getafe on Saturday. Ronaldo was in inspired form for the champions, as he reached 300 league goals faster than Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Elsewhere, Girona continued their superb debut season in Spain's top flight by earning a creditable win in Villarreal. This was followed by Sevilla warming up for their UEFA Champions League last-16 second-leg tie against Manchester United by beating Athletic Bilbao at home.

At the other end of the table, Deportivo La Coruna missed out on three precious points after being reduced to 10 men at home to Eibar. Depor remain in the bottom three, as do Malaga after a dismal defeat in Leganes.

Gareth Bale was first on the scoresheet for Los Blancos, who turned the clock back to last season to showcase some impressive form. Then it was time for Ronaldo to make history.

The powerhouse No. 7 was set free in first-half stoppage time thanks to a cleverly disguised pass from strike partner Karim Benzema. Ronaldo's emphatic finish was good enough to mark a third century of goals in the Spanish top flight.

As Sky Sports Statto detailed, Ronaldo had joined select company:

ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan pointed out how much quicker Ronaldo had reached the landmark than his great rival:

Ronaldo had Benzema to thank for his latest goal, and the French No. 9 has made a habit of teeing up his more illustrious teammate over the years, according to OptaJose:

The game should have been out of sight, especially when Loic Remy was sent off for tangling with Real defender Nacho. Not deterred, 10-man Getafe reduced the deficit when Francisco Portillo scored from the penalty spot after Jorge Molina had been brought down.

Ronaldo thought he'd made it 3-1, but his header was ruled out, although it wasn't certain whether there was a push in the box. Then it was the turn of Arsenal loanee Emiliano Martinez to produce a brilliant save to keep Ronaldo at bay.

Getafe weren't going to deny Ronaldo for long, though, and the 33-year-old finally registered goal No. 301 after heading in with 12 minutes remaining.

Ronaldo was replaced by Marco Asensio, as manager Zinedine Zidane kept one eye on Tuesday's meeting with Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

Goals from Cristhian Stuani and Anthony Lozano were enough for Girona to leave El Madrigal with all three points. Uruguay international Stuani has been prolific this season:

It was a sluggish performance from the Yellow Submarine, with striker Carlos Bacca and schemer Pablo Fornals both out of sorts. Villarreal are still sixth, but Girona have closed the gap to just a single point.

Sevilla were anything but sluggish at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. The hosts tore through Athletic, attacking with pace and fluidity.

Those two qualities were obvious when Franco Vazquez played in Luis Muriel. The Colombian forward finished well from a diminished angle.

It took Sevilla just five minutes to double their lead when Steven N'Zonzi crossed for the impressive Vazquez to head in. There were no more goals, but Sevilla continued to catch the eye with their attractive football.

Proof of their dominance going forward came from how busy they kept Athletic stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga:

Malaga couldn't cope with the width and guile of Leganes. The home side got goals from Javier Eraso and Watford loanee Nordin Amrabat.

Clever midfield man Eraso was particularly impressive, opening the scoring with a well-guided header on 27 minutes. His vision and technique were obvious when he played in Amrabat to score the decisive goal 17 minutes into the second half.

Eibar took the lead in Deportivo when classy No. 10 Takashi Inui was teed up by Fabian Orellana. The two combined well throughout the game, but it didn't stop the hosts from drawing level 12 minutes before the break.

Florin Andone found the net, but Depor's task became tougher six minutes later when goalkeeper Maksym Koval received a red card on his debut. Deportivo held on, but the side mired in 19th place needed much more than a solitary point.

Depor look increasingly likely to face the drop, but Real have proved they are ready to at least salvage some pride in a title race already beyond them.

Attention will now turn to Sunday's clash between top two Barca and Atletico Madrid.
