Thursday Recap
Arsenal slumped to an embarrassing defeat at the Emirates as the visitors shocked their more illustrious opponents with two goals in 70 first-half seconds, per Match of the Day:
Some awful defending allowed Hosam Aiesh to nip in and slot the ball past goalkeeper David Ospina, before Ken Sema added a second almost straight from kick-off. The Evening Standard's James Benge described the lack of actual defending in the Gunners back line:
It was a dreadful first-half showing from Arsenal, but they started the second half strongly, and a goal from Sead Kolasinac gave them some breathing space. Ostersunds could not find another goal and exited the competition, but they produced a marvelous showing that will go down as one of the best results in their history.
Borussia Dortmund also survived a scare as they went behind in Atalanta, courtesy of Rafael Toloi's opener. ESPN FC's Stefan Buczko explained the Italians' tactics:
They almost pulled off the win but were denied late on as Marcel Schmelzer fired home after Etrit Berisha had spilled Marco Reus' shot.
Napoli saw their Europa League campaign ended despite a 2-0 win at RB Leipzig. Goals from Piotr Zielinski and Lorenzo Insigne ensured the tie finished 3-3, with Napoli exiting on away goals.
Maurizio Sarri's side were one of the strongest teams in the competition but left themselves too much to do after a 3-1 first-leg defeat. It was a valiant fightback from the Serie A side, but they could not quite find the third goal they needed to go through.

Napoli can now concentrate their efforts on landing a first Italian league title since 1990. The club are top of the table by a point from Juventus after 25 games played.
Scottish champions Celtic are also out after they lost 3-0 at Zenit St Petersburg. Brendan Rodgers' side took a 1-0 lead to Russia, but Branislav Ivanovic levelled the tie with a header after just seven minutes. A long-range shot from Daler Kuzyayev saw Zenit move ahead before Aleksandr Kokorin bundled home the third.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton explained where it had gone wrong for the visitors:
It will be a painful defeat for Celtic, who were punished for some defensive errors as Zenit extinguished their European hopes.
Atletico Madrid are into the last 16 of the competition after a 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen at the Wanda Metropolitano. Diego Simeone's side were in pole position after a 4-1 first-leg win, and a single goal from Kevin Gameiro was enough to complete the job.
It was a landmark goal for the French striker, per Squawka Football:
The Frenchman fired home from just outside the box after seven minutes to seal the tie and maintain his fine recent goalscoring form. Atletico will head into the last 16 as one of the favourites to lift the trophy. The draw for the next round of the competition will take place on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.
