There are often moments in competitions like this when the winner has to grind out a victory. Morocco did that in their semi-final against Libya.
It wasn't the best display from the hosts, who had rarely been troubled in the competition up until that point. But when Abdulrahman Khalleefah struck a late equaliser for Libya, it felt as though the momentum was with the Mediterranean Knights heading into the extra 30 minutes.
But Morocco dug in and showed their class, with a couple of goals sending them to their first CHAN final.
One of those strikes came from Ayoub El Kaabi, with the forward having netted earlier in the game too. In completing his brace, the RS Berkane man moved on to eight goals for the tournament, five more than any other player involved.
As the CAF Twitter account noted ahead of the semi-final, the 24-year-old is setting new standards in this competition:
Given El Kaabi only made his debut for Morocco in this tournament, has adaptation to international football has been impressively quick.
Stopping him will be the order of the day for Nigeria, who could be forgiven for feeling as though their name may be on the trophy.

While they were dogged in their win over Sudan, earlier in the competition, their hopes were dangling by a thread, as they trailed 1-0 in stoppage time of their quarter-final with Angola. A last-gasp equaliser from Anthony Okpotu pushed the game into extra time, and Gabriel Okechukwu grabbed the winner in the 109th minute.
He may not have been as prolific as El Kaabi, but Okechukwu has been a decisive presence in the big games for the Super Eagles, as he netted the winner against Sudan too. As the Opta Nigeria Twitter account noted, he gave Nigeria an overdue fast start:
Journalist Colin Udoh has been surprised by the Super Eagles' progress in Morocco:
Sunday's final will be a big test for them. Not only will they be the underdogs against the host side, but they will also have to find a way of nullifying the prolific El Kaabi's influence. It's not something any team in the competition has appeared capable of doing.
Morocco showed some signs of nerves in the semi-final, but the manner in which they overcame a setback and still managed to progress will have been a vital experience, especially ahead of what promises to be a tight final. Expect the hosts to find a way to glory.
Prediction: Morocco 1-0 Nigeria
