Recap

Swansea entered Tuesday's match in surprisingly good form―they had lost just once in January and beat Liverpool in their last league fixture―and they continued their fine run with another win, courtesy of great counter-attacking football and a whole host of Arsenal blunders.

Sport Witness had this to say after the contest, referring to speculation linking the Gunners with Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang:

Nacho Monreal had given the Gunners the lead―against the run of play―before the defensive horror show started. Sam Clucas was given a free path to goal to tie things up less than 60 seconds after the opener, taking all of the wind out of Arsenal's sails.

After the break, Petr Cech gifted Jordan Ayew a goal by passing the ball straight to him, and the defence failed collectively toward the end of the contest, allowing Clucas all kinds of time to bag his second goal of the night.

The Mirror's John Cross was not impressed:

Liverpool have just as much of a reputation for defensive ineptitude, but the Reds put on a good showing on Tuesday. Emre Can opened the scoring with a fantastic strike from distance, and Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah added to the advantage.

Per The Liverpool Wrap, even stopper Loris Karius did his part, something the fans aren't used to:

The two results mean the gap between the Reds and Gunners is now eight points, and Arsenal are in serious trouble in the race for a top-four finish, with Spurs yet to feature in Week 25.

In Tuesday's other contest, Christian Benteke and Mark Noble found the back of the net in a 1-1 draw between London rivals West Ham and Crystal Palace. The result leaves both teams near the middle of the standings, but the gap to the relegation zone is minimal.
