Swansea's shock win over the Reds showed there are no guarantees in the Premier League, but Huddersfield enter Tuesday's clash in even worse form than the Welsh side and are not expected to trouble manager Jurgen Klopp and his troops too much.
The Terriers have yet to win a single Premier League match in 2018 and have lost three straight against some mediocre competition―both West Ham United and Stoke City easily handled them.
Their poor form has also been evident in cup competitions:
With just 19 goals scored in the league this season, Huddersfield's main issues clearly lie with the attacking side of their game. With that in mind, Klopp should not be afraid to let his team take risks, as the tactician continues his search for balance in midfield.
With Philippe Coutinho now at Barcelona, the Reds have struggled to find consistency in their creative department. Liverpool have mostly got by thanks to the sheer amount of talent they have up front―and Mohamed Salah's awesome scoring form―but in the long term, they need to find a new conductor who can fill the Brazilian's role.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has shown flashes of his talent recently, but fans remain eager for more additions to the squad. Mike Nevin of The Anfield Wrap urged the club to act:
The current group should have no trouble against Huddersfield, though, even if Klopp decides to rotate his side a bit. Oxlade-Chamberlain should find plenty of success with his raw pace, and in combination with Salah and Sadio Mane, gaps in the defensive line should be plentiful.
As always, Liverpool's main working points will be in the air, where they remain susceptible to conceding. Huddersfield will undoubtedly try to exploit that weakness with plenty of crosses and an emphasis on set pieces.
Prediction: Huddersfield Town 1-3 Liverpool
