Turf Malfunction Causes Delay in Big Ten Championship Game
Ryan McCrystalDec 2, 2017
Just as Wisconsin Badgers running back Chris James scored a fourth-quarter touchdown to pull within one score of the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship Game, the end-zone turf ripped up, causing a lengthy delay.
As Ohio State was defending the goal-line run, some players' feet dug into the turf and pulled it up from the ground.
On the Fox broadcast, Joel Klatt and Gus Johnson explained that the end-zone turf is replaceable and is connected to the ground with industrial strength Velcro.
