Sixers' Joel Embiid Tweets About Blowing Lead vs. Warriors
The Philadelphia 76ers had a chance for a signature win Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors. Out of the gate, they blitzed the NBA champions as they led by 19 points after the first quarter and eventually built a 24-point lead.
But the Warriors are the Warriors, and the 76ers are still in development. The second half was much better for Golden State, and it took the home team apart with a 47-15 edge in the third quarter and came away with a 124-116 victory.
This time, the Sixers blew a big lead, and that led to center Joel Embiid's remarks. It had to sting the Warriors a bit, as they blew a big lead Thursday night against the Boston Celtics when they dropped a 92-88 decision on the road.
And, of course, they blew a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Embiid seemed to explain a few minutes after the original tweet that he was not attempting to troll the Warriors.
