Business Insider Estimates Market Values of College Football Players
The University of Alabama is responsible for the most successful college football program in recent memory, but at least one source speculates Alabama players do not carry the highest market values in the NCAA.
Cork Gaines and Mike Nudelman of Business Insider recently calculated what they referred to as the "fair market value" for players who are enrolled with the 20 most profitable football programs. Using a revenue-sharing system similar to that utilized by the NFL, it was estimated the "average" Texas player carries a value of $666,029 each.
Alabama ($545,357) is second, and Michigan ($510,153) comes in third.
We have to assume the starting quarterback for a national championship team holds more value than the backup left tackle on that same roster, but the average is still eye-opening.
