Premier League Table: Results, Updated Standings from Sunday's Week 2 Matches
Defending champions Chelsea earned their first win of the 2017/18 Premier League season by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. The victory pushed the Blues up to 12th, while newly promoted Huddersfield Town are in the lofty heights of second after a 1-0 win over Newcastle United at the John Smith's Stadium.
Marcos Alonso scored twice, including a winner two minutes from time to cancel out an own goal by substitute Michy Batshuayi, to see off Spurs and make up for Week 1's 3-2 home defeat to Burnley.
Losing in their first league game at Wembley saw Spurs drop to ninth.
Meanwhile, Aaron Mooy scored the only goal of the game as the Terriers made it two wins from two to start their maiden season in the Premier League. Huddersfield are keeping pace with Manchester United at the top, while winless Newcastle are fourth from bottom.

Spurs found themselves one down after just 24 minutes on Sunday thanks to Alonso's stunning free-kick. BBC Match of the Day relayed a snap of the ball as it left the Spanish wing-back's gifted left foot:
The goal meant Alonso maintained his place as the most prolific defender in the division, per WhoScored.com:
As Squawka Football pointed out, it also meant Spurs' struggles defending at Wembley continued:
Tottenham pressed for an equaliser and saw Harry Kane crash a shot off the inside of the post. Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen whipped in his share of dangerous free-kicks.
Chelsea were content to sit deep in numbers, maintaining their defensive shape by having converted centre-back David Luiz anchor midfield. The switch brought out the best in the skilled and versatile Brazilian, with former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton applauding Luiz's performance on BBC 5 live Sport:
Luiz and Co. stayed strong until the 82nd minute, when another Eriksen free-kick from wide proved their undoing, as sub Batshuayi headed the wicked delivery into his own net.
Spurs should have kicked on and won, but a rare Chelsea break saw Alonso's low shot squirm under the body of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris for the winner. Sky Sports Statto showed how efficient Alonso and Chelsea had been with few chances:
Sunday began with Huddersfield getting the better of Newcastle at home. Mooy struck the winner five minutes into the second half to claim the distinction of scoring the first Premier League goal at the John Smith's Stadium.
While it was sweetly struck, the true beauty of this goal came from how Huddersfield kept and progressed possession. As OptaJoe detailed, the buildup was a masterclass in passing:
Such quality play on the deck is a testament to the bold approach the newly promoted side has adopted in its first two Premier League matches. More than just style going forward, though, Huddersfield are also underpinned by physicality at the back in the form of Christopher Schindler.
The centre-back was a colossus against the Magpies and looks like a building block around whom Huddersfield could construct a surprisingly stingy defence. Consecutive clean sheets have been the foundation for the club's fast start to life in the division.
Schindler and Huddersfield have surprised many with their start, and Chelsea offered a reminder of their quality on Sunday, as the champions proved they are far from a spent force.
