Knicks GM Scott Perry Says He Hasn't Met Owner James Dolan Yet
Scott Perry said Friday he has yet to meet New York Knicks owner James Dolan a week after he was hired as the team's new general manager.
"I have not met with him yet, but I'm looking forward to that," Perry said on ESPN's SC6, according to ESPN.com's Ian Begley.
When Perry was hired on July 14, Dolan stated in a press release that he himself wouldn't be involved with basketball operations, instead leaving those responsibilities to Perry and team president Steve Mills.

"Scott brings tremendous skill and experience in helping to build winning basketball teams," Dolan said. "He’ll immediately get to work adjusting our basketball operations department to make sure we have one of the most effective front office staffs in the NBA. As Steve and Scott move forward, I will continue to not be involved in the operations of the team."
Perry also made it clear that he was comfortable accepting the job even though Dolan remained distant from the hiring process.
"Again, Steve Mills, who I worked with very closely in this process, I have a lot of trust and faith in him," he said. "The organization has been very welcoming of me. I'm very confident in who I am as a person and am confident in the vision that's been set here."
With free agency largely over, Perry's first order of business with the Knicks will be addressing the future of Carmelo Anthony and a possible trade for Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving.
On Friday, ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst reported Irving has requested a trade from the Cavaliers and that the Knicks are one of his preferred destinations.
Anthony, meanwhile, is still in search of a new home after he was publicly shopped by former president Phil Jackson.
According to the New York Daily News' Frank Isola, Anthony "is focused on getting a deal done" with the Houston Rockets and would be hesitant to waive his no-trade clause to facilitate a move to the Cavaliers in a swap for Irving.
Specifically, Isola reported there is "no guarantee that Anthony would do that to join a Cavs team that didn't have Irving."
