Stephen Curry Notches 1st Warriors Postseason Triple-Double

Bleacher Report MilestonesJun 5, 2017

Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry recorded 32 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in Sunday's Game 2 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, marking the first playoff triple-double in franchise history, per the Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).

Curry and the Warriors took a six-point lead into the second quarter and just a three-point lead into the halftime break, but they extended it in the third quarter and coasted the rest of the way. The club posted a 19-point victory in Game 2, just slightly less dominating than the 22-point margin in Game 1.

In addition to Curry's triple-double—his first in the postseason—LeBron James also posted one. The duo marked just the second time in NBA playoff history that more than one player has tallied triple-double, per the Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN.com).

Even prior to the club's signing of superstar Kevin Durant, the Warriors would have entered the season as one of the favorites to win the championship. Durant's addition has proven highly beneficial, however, as he supplied 33 points in Game 2 and 38 points in Game 1.

Golden State has glided through the playoffs thus far, winning all of its 14 contests en route to a 2-0 series lead in the NBA Finals. Unless something drastically changes as the series shifts to Cleveland for Game 3 and Game 4, the Warriors could have smooth sailing ahead to their second championship in three seasons.
