Premier League Results Week 29: Sunday's 2017 EPL Scores, Top Scorers and Table

Manchester City and Liverpool shared the spoils in a titanic Premier League clash on Sunday after a second-half spot-kick from James Milner and Sergio Aguero's 13th goal of the season saw the two teams draw 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Milner converted a 51st-minute penalty against his former club following Liverpool's fightback against some early City dominance, and Aguero rescued a point in the second half to keep manager Pep Guardiola's side third in the league.

Tottenham Hotspur benefited from that draw and moved two points clear in second by defeating Southampton 2-1 at White Hart Lane, thanks to Christian Eriksen's opener and Dele Alli's 14th goal of the campaign, with star striker Harry Kane injured.

Manchester United's top-four hopes were also boosted by a convincing 3-1 victory at Middlesbrough, where Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia got on the scoresheet for the visitors.

City opened an essential Sunday showdown against Liverpool firmly sat in the driver's seat, but a drop-off in intensity coupled with several missed chances from Raheem Sterling slowly saw the winger's former side come into the clash.

Liverpool made the Citizens pay for their earlier errors when Roberto Firmino evaded City's offside trap before a reckless challenge from Gael Clichy gave the guests a penalty. Milner dutifully stepped up to score his seventh spot-kick of the season, and ESPN.com's Richard Jolly noted the good omens that event usually brings:

Guardiola's men were back on track, however, when Aguero got on the end of a superb Kevin De Bruyne cross from the right wing to draw level, the Argentinian's second strike in his last three Premier League outings.

De Bruyne came agonisingly close to winning the match himself and hit the post with 15 minutes remaining, and though Liverpool tipped the shot counter in their favour, 13 to 12, per WhoScored.com, the two sides finished level.

That result was a beneficial one for the Red Devils as United capitalised on a mixed performance from Boro goalkeeper Victor Valdes and entered themselves in the Premier League history books:

Facing his former club, Valdes was at times heroic in pulling off some impressive stops, but his display was marred by poor passing and a comical error to gift ex-team-mate Valencia a goal in the 93rd minute, per Statman Dave:

Fellaini and Lingard scored either side of the break to give Sunday's visitors a 2-0 lead before Rudy Gestede cut the deficit in half, but the quality ultimately rose to the top as United coped in the absence of injured Paul Pogba and suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The two-goal difference was perhaps surprising for some, too, considering Middlesbrough accounted for an impressive 64 percent of possession at the Riverside but lacked much in terms of finishing.

While manager Jose Mourinho's men thrived away, Spurs continued their fortress-like form at White Hart Lane with a 2-1 victory over Southampton as Squawka depicted the north Londoners' ruthless home record this season:

Eriksen found enough space outside the box to open Tottenham's lead in the 13th minute and keep up his terrific run of form in scoring against the Saints, per Sky Sports Statto:

Alli was fouled in the box on the 33-minute mark and converted his own spot-kick before James Ward-Prowse bundled home from close range for a consolation strike in the 52nd minute, although Southampton couldn't find a second.

Manager Claude Puel's side have now seen at least three goals scored in 10 of their last 11 games, and though their second-half display was much improved, a run of three wins in their last 10 games doesn't make for good reading.
