Anu Solomon to Transfer from Arizona: Latest Comments and Reaction
Quarterback Anu Solomon announced in an Instagram post Tuesday that he is transferring from Arizona:
Solomon started in 25 games over his first two seasons with the Wildcats, but an injury-plagued 2016 saw him appear in just five games.
According to Dave Miller of Campus Insiders, Solomon "is expected to graduate early" and will be eligible to take the field in 2017.
After appearing in Arizona's season opener against BYU, Solomon sustained a knee injury that held him out for almost two months.
He returned on Oct. 29 and was used sparingly throughout the season behind Brandon Dawkins. He sat out the final game of the season against Arizona State with a foot injury.
In his five games, Solomon attempted just 64 passes, completing 38 of them for 465 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
It was a swift fall from grace for one of Arizona's greatest quarterbacks:
| Completions | 556 | 4th |
| Completion Percentage* | 59.6% | 6th |
| Yards | 6,913 | 4th |
| Touchdowns | 49 | 3rd |
| Interceptions | 16 | T-21st |
During two healthy seasons in 2014 and 2015, Solomon led the Wildcats to a pair of bowl games, including a high-profile appearance in the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State.
Last season, he led Arizona to a New Mexico Bowl victory over New Mexico, and he was voted co-MVP:
In Solomon's absence and now in his departure, Dawkins looks to be the main man at Arizona after he led the team in passing and rushing in 2016, posting a combined 2,289 yards and 18 touchdowns.
But the Wildcats could only muster a 3-9 record, and transferring will give Solomon one more opportunity at competing with a contending program.
