Mark Thompson Charged with Trespassing: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
Florida Gators junior running back Mark Thompson is facing a misdemeanor trespassing charge stemming from an incident that occurred last week in Gainesville, Florida.
According to the Independent Florida Alligator (h/t Landon Watnick of InsideTheGators.com), Thompson was charged last Thursday after police discovered him on the property of Ultimate Towing, which was a violation since it is posted property.
The trespassing charge marks the second off-field issue of the season for Thompson, as he was previously pulled over and charged with marijuana possession in October, per Watnick.
Thompson was suspended for Florida's game against Georgia on Oct. 29, and he has appeared in just three of the Gators' five contests since then.
The Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, native ranks third on the team in rushing this season with 295 yards to go along with two touchdowns, but he hasn't scored since September and hasn't topped 19 rushing yards in a game since Oct. 15.
It isn't yet known if Thompson will play in the Outback Bowl against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Jan. 2, but if he is not available for the game, even more of the rushing workload figures to land on the shoulders of Jordan Scarlett and Lamical Perine.
