United are one of the favourites to go all the way in this season's Europa League—the final is in Stockholm in May—but they were only able to finish second to Fenerbahce in Group A after some poor early results.
As a consequence, the Premier League giants were not seeded for Monday's draw and face a tough task to get past Saint-Etienne in a tie that could feature both Paul and Florentin Pogba:
Spurs endured a torrid campaign in the Champions League but are another of the sides tipped to go deep now they are in the Europa League, and they will be favourites to overturn Belgian club Gent.

Shakhtar Donetsk were the only side with a perfect record in the Europa League group stage—winning six games from six against KAA Gent, SC Braga and Konyaspor—and they will face Spanish side Celta Vigo in the last 32 for a potentially thrilling encounter.
Dutch giants Ajax were also impressive in Group G as they claimed 14 points, and their opponents in the first knockout round will be Legia Warsaw.
There are a number of realistic contenders to triumph in the Europa League final in May, with Italian duo Roma and Fiorentina likely to go deep, although both face tricky opponents in the first knockout round.
Given the gruelling nature of the competition, there are no guarantees, but an emphatic round-of-32 victory over two legs can often be a big boost for the remainder of the competition.
