Alabama Blocks Punt for TD, Florida Blocks Extra Point for Defensive PAT
Andrew GouldDec 3, 2016
A wild sequence in Saturday's SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Florida led to both defenses generating points on blocked kicks.
Late in the first quarter in Atlanta, Joshua Jacobs scooped up Derrick Gore's blocked punt for a 27-yard touchdown. The Crimson Tide jumped to a 16-7 lead on their second non-offensive score, but they didn't convert the point-after attempt:
After Jabari Zuniga obstructed Adam Griffith's kick, David Reese returned the loose ball the other way. The defensive conversion didn't make up for the Gators' previous special teams miscue, but it earned them two points.
It's not often a 10-7 score turns to 16-9 with two blocked kicks and one timed play.
