Curry Sets NBA Record for Most 3-Point Shots Made in Game
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry set the NBA record for three-point field goals made in a single game Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans, connecting from deep 13 times, per NBA.com/Stats on Twitter.
The outing came just three days after his streak of 157 consecutive games with a made three-pointer came to an end in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. Curry missed each of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc.
He managed to refocus Monday and sink 13 of the 17 shots he took from outside, making 16 of 26 total field-goal attempts on his way to 46 points. The star point guard added five rebounds, five assists and two steals to his stat line.
Despite the lofty expectations following the offseason signing of Kevin Durant in free agency, the Warriors opened the season with just a 4-2 record through the first six games. While that's certainly not bad, it doesn't measure up to last season's 24-0 start.
Of course, Odds Shark listed Golden State as the preseason 4-5 favorite to take home the NBA title this season after falling short last year in a seven-game series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
When it comes to three-point shooting, there are few NBA players past or present who match up to Curry. The two-time MVP has attempted and made the most three-pointers of any player each of the last four seasons, and he already leads both categories again this year.
There are multiple others in the league who could challenge Curry for MVP in 2016-17, but his start to the campaign keeps him in the foreground as he looks to become just the fourth player in NBA history to earn three straight MVP awards.
