Sergio Aguero Only Behind Thierry Henry as Best EPL Striker, Says Jamie Redknapp
Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester City's Sergio Aguero is the second-best striker to play in the Premier League after Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
After City—who were leading 1-0 thanks to Aguero—were pegged back by Middlesbrough on Saturday following the Argentinian's substitution, the Sky Sports pundit wrote in his column for the Daily Mail:
"The problem was Pep Guardiola had taken off Sergio Aguero, his most likely match-winner, just beforehand. It's never 'job done' in this league and I don't think we'll see Pep doing that again!
"
Aguero scored his 150th City goal on Saturday and for me, only Thierry Henry stands above him as the Premier League's greatest striker.

The former Atletico Madrid man hit his milestone in 223 appearances in all competitions for the Sky Blues, and 110 of the goals have come in the Premier League, in which he's made just 159 appearances.
MailOnline Sport provided a breakdown of how each of his 150 goals has been scored:
Here's a look at where Aguero and Henry rank among the Premier League's top scorers:
| 1 | Alan Shearer | 260 | 441 | 0.59 |
| 2 | Wayne Rooney | 194 | 445 | 0.44 |
| 3 | Andy Cole | 187 | 408 | 0.46 |
| 4 | Frank Lampard | 177 | 594 | 0.30 |
| 5 | Thierry Henry | 175 | 258 | 0.68 |
| T19 | Sergio Aguero | 110 | 149 | 0.74 |
Despite being some way behind the division's all-time leading scorers, Aguero boasts a better goals-per-game ratio than those at the top of the list—including Henry and Alan Shearer, with the latter leading the way on 260 goals—so it's not a completely outrageous claim.
The 28-year-old is a phenomenal player, and he may well have plenty more years to add to his tally if he remains at City.
Few can match the diminutive striker's pace and fewer still—if any—have quicker feet than him thanks to his almost unrivalled ability to adjust his footwork and get a shot away before defenders can react, and he's a clinical finisher to boot.
OptaJoe revealed that Aguero has found the net against almost every club he's played against in the English top flight:
Henry's exploits at Arsenal would see many agree with Redknapp's assertion the Frenchman is the best striker to grace the Premier League.
The 39-year-old's composure, technique and majestic play rightly place him among the league's best, and had he not left the Gunners for Barcelona in 2007 at the age of 30, he may have gone on to overtake Shearer's record.

The Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United legend's exclusion from the conversation is inexplicable, however, given his goal tally and the standard he achieved during his time in the league.
A classic English centre-forward, Shearer used his strength and power to outmuscle and shrug off defenders, while his venomous drive and aerial prowess were almost unrivalled. His technical ability—while perhaps not in the same league as Henry's—was also an underrated facet of his game.
Had his career not been interrupted by two serious injuries—which also served to deprive him of his pace—and had he been playing in teams that were the same calibre as Henry's Arsenal and Aguero's City, he likely would have bagged many more.
Whoever you prefer—and there are valid arguments for each—Aguero is well on his way to cementing himself in the conversation and only looks set to continue doing so in the future.
