Nebraska vs. Wisconsin: Live Score, Highlights for Cornhuskers vs. Badgers

Brian MarronOct 29, 2016

Wisconsin 23, Nebraska 17. Game Over (OT).

The Big Ten West standings are in for a big shake-up on Saturday as two division heavyweights in Nebraska and Wisconsin squared off on ESPN.

Holding a 17-7 fourth-quarter lead, Wisconsin allowed Nebraska to drive downfield for a touchdown before back-to-back interceptions from Badger quarterbacks Alex Hornibrook and Bart Houston pushed Nebraska into a tie.

Wisconsin kicker Alex Endicott missed a game-winning field goal, and then he missed the extra point on Dare Ogunbowale's overtime touchdown. Still, the Cornhuskers were unable to get over the hump with Wisconsin's turnovers, and the Badgers held on to win.

Nebraska's Tommy Armstrong Jr. showed flashes of greatness, but he was too inconsistent throughout the night to lift his team to a road win. The senior finished 12-of-31 with 152 yards and two picks passing to go with 39 yards and a score rushing. Stanley Morgan and Jordan Westerkamp were the only Cornhuskers to significantly contribute in the receiving game, combining for eight catches and 120 yards.

As for Wisconsin, the team was abysmal throwing with just 114 total yards and two picks. Hornibrook was the better of the two through the air, going 10-of-16 for 71 yards, a touchdown and an interception.ย

However, the running game was the catalyst for the Badgers. Ogunbowale was the surprise player of the night as he toted the rock 11 times for 120 yards and the winning touchdown. Corey Clement was the focus of Nebraska's defense, and he was bottled up until late in the fourth quarter. Yet, he still chipped in 82 yards on 19 rushes, which is a testament to his resiliency and ability.

With the win, Wisconsin keeps its Big 12 West hopes alive by moving to 3-2 with a tiebreaker over Nebraska. The Badgers have finished the gauntlet of their schedule, and they will move to play at Northwestern next week.

Nebraska is still atop the division at 4-1, but it has a monster test next week at Ohio State. Unless the Cornhuskers can pull the upset over the Buckeyes, their division lead will likely evaporate.
