Jackson had previously indicated Kessler would remain the starter even when Josh McCown was healthy enough to play.

"Obviously, Cody right now is the starter of our football team until I feel otherwise," he said Wednesday, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. "We have to make decisions about where they are towards the end of the week. We'll see that as we go."

Kessler, 23, was named the starter before Cleveland's Week 3 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. He's thrown for 529 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, though the Browns are 0-3 in those contests. He is one of five players to have taken snaps for the team at quarterback this season, joining Robert Griffin III, McCown, Terrelle Pryor and Charlie Whitehurst.

The rookie quarterback left Week 5's matchup with the New England Patriots after suffering a chest and rib injury, which had left his status for this week in jeopardy. Clearly, however, the team has deemed him able to start.

"Cody practiced full, looked good, I think he's ready to go," Jackson added on Thursday after the team's practice, per Ulrich.
