Tim DanielsSep 6, 2016

Former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd turned himself in to police in Greenville, South Carolina, on the morning of Sept. 6 on charges of assault and battery related to a July incident.

Romando Dixson of the Greenville News reported on Wednesday that the charges against Boyd were dismissed.

Dixson reported police took out a warrant for Boyd's arrest on Sept. 2. The alleged complainant in the case didn't immediately come forward until speaking with an attorney about the incident, which took place at a local nightclub.

WYFF's Marc Dopher also provided a statement from Boyd.

A police report filed based on the complainant's account stated Boyd got into an argument with a doorman at On The Roxx after he was told he'd have to wait in line, according to the Greenville News. After being told to leave, he allegedly pushed the doorman, who knocked over a woman while falling to the ground.

It's unclear what type of injuries, if any, were suffered during the altercation.

Carla Field of WYFF noted Boyd was released on $1,087 bond after turning himself in.

The 25-year-old quarterback is currently a free agent after bouncing around the NFL and CFL. He was selected by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2014 draft and had stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes.

Boyd played 47 games across four years at Clemson, which is located in South Carolina. He left the Tigers as the program's all-time leader in both passing yards (11,904) and passing touchdowns (107). He also helped lead the team to an ACC championship in 2011 and an Orange Bowl victory in 2014.

In May, Boyd announced he was taking part in a new football academy in the Greenville area, per David Hood of TigerNet. The quarterback was released by the Alouettes in June and hasn't signed with another team.
