Kansas State vs. Stanford: Live Score, Highlights for Wildcats vs. Cardinal
Stanford 26, Kansas State 13, Final
Things were up and down for the Stanford Cardinal in this game, but they were able to outlast the Kansas State Wildcats for a 26-13 victory. Quarterback Ryan Burns made his first start tonight and played pretty well, going 14-of-18 passing for 156 yards and one touchdown. He wasn't able to do much in the second half, but some would argue conservative play-calling led to that.
Christian McCaffrey was once again dynamic in this game, finishing with 126 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He even had a 97-yard punt return for a touchdown that was called back because of a block in the back penalty.
The Cardinal looked to be in control with a 17-3 halftime lead, but Kansas State controlled the clock in the third quarter and kept Stanford off the field. The Wildcats defense played much better in the second half, but sluggish offense kept those guys on the field too long.
Quarterback Jesse Ertz got the start for Kansas State and finished 16-of-34 passing for 207 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He was in and out of the game because of cramps, and backup Joe Hubener struggled to get much going through the air.
A late 41-yard touchdown run by McCaffrey sealed this game as it gave Stanford a 26-13 lead late in the fourth quarter. Kansas State (0-1) now enters an off week before going home to face Florida Atlantic. Stanford also has an off week before the big showdown with Southern Cal on Sept. 17.
