LaLiga Table 2016 Week 2: Standings and Final Scores After Sunday
It is always difficult to get a full picture of a league after just a couple of matches, but there have been some interesting results already in LaLiga.
Week 2 featured expected wins from Real Madrid and Barcelona to stay perfect, although Atletico Madrid hasn't been as fortunate with a pair of draws that could cost it.
Meanwhile, Las Palmas is the surprise leader on the table at this early portion of the season.

Sunday Recap

Although it's too early in the year to be checking the standings, Barcelona knows when Real Madrid wins, it has to win as well. After Toni Kroos led Real Madrid to a victory over Celta Vigo on Saturday, that meant the pressure was on Barcelona on Sunday.
The matchup against Athletic Bilbao wasn't always pretty. Barca held possession for a high portion of the match, but struggled to finish in the final third—a problem that was exacerbated without Neymar in the lineup.
It was able to break through in the 21st minute when Ivan Rakitic headed home a beautiful cross from Arda Turan, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
This ended up being all that was needed, as aside from Benat, Bilbao struggled to get much going in the loss.
While the victory might be one that would be overlooked over the course of Barcelona's season, it was a big one for manager Luis Enrique, as noted by Bleacher Report:
The coach also knew coming in that this wouldn't be an easy victory. He explained his pride in the win after the match, per the team's official Twitter account:
As one of just three clubs with two wins in two chances, Barcelona remains in great shape going forward.
Interestingly, Las Palmas also sits in this category after a dominant 5-1 victory over Granada. This is coming on the heels of a 4-2 win over Valencia.
The club ended up in the middle of the table a year ago but has been red-hot so far this season, showcasing an attack that can pile on scores in a hurry. Sid Lowe of the Guardian joked about a comparison during Sunday's win:
Las Palmas was actually even with Granada at halftime but scored four goals in the second half—all from different players—to pull away for the win. Kevin-Prince Boateng also scored his first goal in the victory.
With its plus-six goal differential, this actually puts it atop the LaLiga table.
In the final match of the day, top contenders Sevilla and Villarreal battled to a draw in a contest that featured a lot of chances but zero goals.
Sevilla tallied 62.7 percent of possession in the match, but it was Villarreal that had the better chances. The home team had 12 shots, including five on target, compared to zero for Sevilla. The squad also had five corner kicks but couldn't get anything into the back of the net.
Both sides had to settle for just one point and will hope for more luck next week.
