Portugal vs. France: Latest Odds and Expert Picks for Euro 2016 Final
France are just 90 minutes away from achieving their dream of winning a third major tournament on home soil, but an unbeaten Portugal side awaits them in the UEFA Euro 2016 final on Sunday.
Both have grown into the tournament as it has progressed, with the Selecao proving particularly uninspiring in the group stage. Though the hosts are considered firm favourites for the final, it promises to be an intriguing showdown when the two sides face off.
Here are the latest odds for the match, per Odds Shark:

France Overwhelming Favourites to Beat Portugal
Bleacher Report UK recently reported Les Bleus have won their last 10 matches against Portugal, which gives some indication as to why the bookmakers are expecting them to win on Sunday.
Further, the semi-final with Wales was the only match Portugal have won in normal time at the tournament this summer, and France should be a much tougher proposition.
Many pundits also believe France have the edge, including the Guardian's Barney Ronay: "France are not just the emotional choice to win this final. For all Portugal’s qualities, the hosts look stronger in almost every area, with greater peaks of talent and greater thrust in their attacking play."
So too do former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant and Germany manager Joachim Low, despite the latter believing his team were superior in the semi-final (h/t football writer Miguel Delaney):
As the home team, the pressure has been on France to perform, and earlier in the tournament that looked to be getting to Didier Deschamps' men as they struggled to bear the weight of an expectant nation.
Nevertheless, they were able to grind out positive results and look in good shape after thrashing Iceland in the quarter-finals and overcoming old rivals Germany in the last four.
Les Bleus have quality all over the pitch, not least up front. Antoine Griezmann has been a revelation in his first European Championship and sits on the goal tally Cristiano Ronaldo boasted before the tournament began, per the tournament's official Twitter feed:
Per Tom Williams of AFP, the Atletico Madrid man's showings have naturally been celebrated by the French media:
At 7-2, he's seen as the most likely to score first in the game—and with good reason, thanks to his pace, intelligent play and clinical finishing.
Olivier Giroud is also favoured at 5-1, with two of his three goals having opened the scoring for France at this tournament.
Professional footballer Jordan Graham is convinced Portugal will come out on top, though:
Unsurprisingly, Ronaldo also believes as much. He told UEFA.com (h/t Goal.com's Matthew Galea):
"I believe that this is possible, as do my colleagues and the whole country also believe. We must have positive thinking because I believe that on Sunday will be the first time that Portugal will win a major trophy.
...
France is a bit more the favourites than us, but I think Portugal will win.
"
If Portugal are to upset the odds, the Real Madrid superstar will be key, and it's of little surprise he's deemed as the most likely to score for his side.
The 31-year-old hasn't always shone at this year's Euros but produced a sensational header against Wales in the last round, per Portuguese football expert Jan Hagen:
Match of the Day host Gary Lineker was among many to marvel at the feat:
Portugal are likely to spend much of the game trying to hit France on the counter-attack, and set pieces will also be important to bring Ronaldo's aerial prowess into the game.
Aside from Ronaldo and a small handful of players, including rising star Renato Sanches, there's a fairly significant gulf in quality between the two sides.
France have momentum and history behind them as well—they should come out on top on Sunday.
Prediction: France.
