Open Championship 2016 Leaderboard: Saturday Scores, Results and Analysis
Henrik Stenson outdueled Phil Mickelson on the back nine to take a one-stroke lead heading into the final round of the 2016 Open Championship on Saturday afternoon at Royal Troon in Scotland.
Stenson rallied back from a pair of bogeys to close out his front nine and is the clubhouse leader at 12 under par after Saturday's three-under round of 68. This is the first time in the Swede's career that he will enter the final round of a major as the 54-hole leader.
He's in pursuit of his first major championship.
Mickelson threaded the needle throughout the day despite playing bogey free until the 14th hole.
Lefty only hit the fairway 57 percent of the time and had to pull out a couple of miraculous saves to continue fending off Stenson, who used two-shot swings on 14 and 17 to pull ahead on a day where the weather and course conditions produced many high numbers.
It seems that Sunday's final round will be a two-man race.
Bill Haas is the closest to Stenson and Mickelson in the field, and he sits six back at six under par.
Bleacher Report will bring you live coverage of the final round beginning Sunday morning.
