England have all but booked their place in the knockout rounds at UEFA Euro 2016 but want to make it a glorious finish in Group B when they face Slovakia in Saint-Etienne, France, on Monday.

The Three Lions lead the group after beating Wales in their encounter on Thursday, but the Slovaks can claim the runners-up spot if they better Wales' result against Russia.

England qualified for the tournament with a perfect record and have demonstrated resilient form in their two games on French soil thus far this summer.

Hodgson's Future Depends On Euro Success

Despite England's strong record in recent memory, the FA has revealed manager Roy Hodgson's future depends on results at Euro 2016.

Supremo of English football's governing body, Greg Dyke, has stated his belief the national team should aim to win the World Cup in the coming years, per BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek (h/t BBC Sport).

Dyke said Hodgson would be offered a new deal if the team "do well" and "play well" in France, and Hodgson's team has so far fulfilled this mandate from the FA chairman.

Russia stole a draw against England in their opening match, but the game was widely recognised as one of the nation's best performances in their opener at a major tournament, passing the ball with precision and looking dangerous in the box.

A dull first half against Wales saw Hodgson unleash Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge from the bench, and the strikers provided the tonic, as England recovered from 1-0 down to take three points.

Vardy and Sturridge are likely to start in tandem against Slovakia, and the pair will provide too much goal threat for their opponents to handle.

The Liverpool attacker spent months on the sidelines with injury during the most recent campaign, just making the final squad before the Euros commenced, but Vardy is the man of the moment, a Premier League champion with Leicester City after firing them to the title.

The former non-league player hit 24 goals in 36 Premier League appearances in 2015-16.

BBC Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy commented on Hodgson's switch in tactics against the Welsh:

"

I was at the stadium in Lens on Thursday and I was watching exactly what England did, first when Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge came on at half-time, and then when Marcus Rashford was brought on with 17 minutes to go.

The first swap, for Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling, was the obvious one. Vardy went up front where Kane was, Sturridge was on the right and Adam Lallana moved over to the left. The system was the same 4-3-3 we had started with.

It might have looked like chaos when Rashford came on and Sturridge moved centrally but I saw Gary Neville give instructions to [Wayne] Rooney and he went to tell Sturridge to go behind the front two. It was very clever, and it worked.

The tournament has seen Rooney switch to the midfield role he successfully occupied for Manchester United toward the end of last term, and he has emulated the usage of Paul Scholes in the latter years of his career.

Despite not having Scholes' radar for a pass, Rooney has bossed the centre and added energy to a problematic part of the park for England.

Slovakia will be relying on Napoli dynamo Marek Hamsik, who has been in wonderful form in France.

At 28, the midfielder could be in the shop window for a move to a bigger club, and a match-winning performance against England will propel his stock.

England have already done a good job at Euro 2016, but the expectation for the Three Lions is always to go deep into tournaments.

So far, England look a fluid and balanced unit with Rooney pulling the strings, but it is questionable whether the defence is good enough to take Hodgson's side beyond the quarter-finals.
