Copa America 2016: Times, Odds, Live Stream and TV Schedule for Thursday's Group

Tom SunderlandJun 9, 2016

The 2016 Copa America group stage is well underway, and Thursday will put Group C back in the spotlight, as Mexico and Venezuela take on Jamaica and Uruguay respectively, with the former pair hoping to preserve their winning starts.

In the first round of the group-stage proceedings, we saw favourites Mexico climb into pole position after defeating Uruguay 3-1, while a Josef Martinez finish guided Venezuela to a 1-0 win over Jamaica.

Despite those results, Group C still looks an open landscape, and depending on how Thursday's matches play out, we could see all four teams on equal footing come the third and final round of group-stage fixtures.

Mexico to Win By 2-Goal Margin, 3-1

The goal scored by Uruguay defender Diego Godin during Mexico's 3-1 win on Sunday was the first goal Mexico conceded in more than 720 minutes of play, such is the stellar state of their defence.

Said defence impressed under former manager Miguel Herrera, but ESPN FC's Tom Marshall noted how current chief Juan Carlos Osorio has arguably improved the team further after a period of uncertainty:

As such, it seems only too likely El Tri are capable of keeping a clean sheet against the tame Jamaica, who were muted in their opener against Venezuela and who don't boast a defence as strong as Mexico's.

There was some controversy following Mexico's opening win, however, when Uruguay Football Association chief Wilmar Valdez suggested there's a bias toward El Tri in the United States, per broadcaster Juan Arango:

On the football side of things, however, Osorio's men are doing an admirable job of proving their credentials fair and square, and they're listed at 3-1 to beat Jamaica by a margin of two goals.

Mexico have won four of their last seven matches by that margin, triumphing 2-0 on three of those occasions, and a comfortable win over Jamaica is easily within their reach.

Anytime Goalscorer (Salomon Rondon): 10-3

West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon couldn't get on the scoresheet during Venezuela's 1-0 win against Jamaica on Sunday, but the 6'1" brute will again be looking to cause problems against Uruguay.

Prior to that fixture, Caribbean football expert Nathan Carr picked Rondon out as Venezuela's "key man," and rightly so, given his record of 16 goals in 50 appearances for the national team:

Neither team has been defensively pristine of late, as shown by Betting Expert statistics, with both teams keeping a less-than-impressive six cleans sheets in their last 14 matches combined. That being said, Uruguay have shut out the likes of Colombia, Chile and Peru in recent months.

Rondon will be the focal point in a Venezuela strike force looking to penetrate a Uruguay back line that conceded three to Mexico last time out and looked capable of capitulating completely.

The Baggies bruiser is 10-3 to score anytime against Uruguay, and considering he has twice as many international goals as any other player in Venezuela's squad, he's certainly in the frame to do some damage.
