The United States will be desperate for a victory to preserve their chances of advancing out of the group stage when they take on Costa Rica on Tuesday night at Soldier Field as -125 betting favorites on the Copa America Centenario lines at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

The party was spoiled for the hosts United States in the opening match of the Copa America Centenario. The Americans surrendered a goal just eight minutes in and were unable to rebound against a highly skilled Colombia side, falling 2-0 while pegged as slim +170 betting favorites.

Costa Rica came away from their first match of the tournament with a point, playing to a 0-0 draw against Paraguay while pegged as heavy +280 underdogs. The Ticos now face even longer odds against the United States despite their strong play in recent outings.
The side is undefeated in their past four contests, posting victories in six of their past nine games including a 1-0 win over the United States in a friendly last October. And as they proved with a first-place finish in the group stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the Ticos have the ability to rise to the occasion in big games.
The squad's strong play has lifted them to the top of the Group B table in the fourth round of the World Cup qualifying tournament. As well, they have enjoyed considerable success against their rivals from the United States, going 5-2-2 in their past nine meetings, including three clean-sheet wins, while outscoring the Americans by a 13-7 margin.
