Copa America 2016: Times, Odds, Live Stream and TV Schedule for Tuesday's Group

The USA will be hoping to fire their Copa America Centenario charge forward on Tuesday as the hosts battle Costa Rica in Chicago at Soldier Field in Group A.

The Americans lost in their opening encounter, losing 2-0 to a stylish Colombian outfit on Friday, but will believe victory is within their grasp on home soil against their latest opponents.

Tuesday's other game sees Colombia face Paraguay at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, as Los Cafeteros manager Jose Pekerman attempts to maintain his side's perfect start to the competition.

The USA's defeat to Colombia on Friday in Santa Clara, California, came as no surprise, despite the host's home-soil advantage, but the schedule in Group A leaves the Americans in a precarious predicament.

Costa Rica have stunned many a bigger opponent in recent years, and they will feel comfortable with their task at hand to disappoint the U.S. men's national soccer team.

La Sele could only manage a goalless draw on Saturday in their opening game against Paraguay in a dull affair, but the weight of expectation now lies with the United States as they hope to achieve a qualification berth.

Costa Rica almost stole the points in their match through Christian Bolanos and will look to counter-attack the Americans in a similar fashion.

The USA, who are rooted to the bottom of the standings, know nothing but a win will do, and they are used to facing adversity in tournament situations—often failing in their first matches and going on to the knockout phase.

Head coach Jurgen Klinsmann was happy with his team's effort against the brilliance of Los Cafeteros—one of the highest-ranked teams on the planet—per Brian Straus of Sports Illustrated:

"

I mean, we were totally even. We didn’t give them anything. It’s really important for our players to see that they’re absolutely beatable, that they come out of this game and say, "O.K., you know what? Give the three points to them. But it’s absolutely no problem going forward to say we play Costa Rica to get three points and we play Paraguay to get three points and then we’re in the quarterfinals." The message overall is positive to the players even though if we’re obviously disappointed we didn’t get any points.

The USA have two matches to rectify their position, but a defeat to Costa Rica will make the second spot an impossibility.

Klinsmann needs a modicum of success to maintain his tenure as national team coach—otherwise the German might be surplus to requirements if his team cannot get the job done on Tuesday.

The United States will need to improve in their second match, and Costa Rican hero Hernan Medford doesn't believe Klinsmann's team has the depth to prevail.

According to Simon Borg of MLS Soccer, the veteran told Univision after watching the Americans: "[The U.S.] couldn't make heads or tails yesterday [Friday], and I don't think they're going to improve for the upcoming matches."

USA defender John Brooks said he felt the critics were too harsh on his team, per Straus:

"Everybody is a little bit too much our critic," he said. "I think the game that we saw [against Colombia] and that we played was O.K. We got caught on two set pieces. It’s little bit bad but we’re still in the [tournament]. Costa Rica and Paraguay tied, so everything is open for us."

On American soil, fans will expect the USA to sweep past their opponents of this calibre, but the hosts are not always comfortable with the tags of favourite.

The USMNT do not need a pretty performance against Costa Rica, but they need a ruthless display from their attack and discipline from their back four. 

However, Klinsmann has often failed to get the best from his men over a sustained period of time, and the paying public would deem a defeat against Costa Rica wholly unacceptable.
