Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid: Goals, Highlights from Champions League Final
For the second time in three seasons, the most important game in European football saw Atletico Madrid face their city rivals, Real Madrid. The Champions League final at the San Siro offered Los Blancos the opportunity to take home their 11th European Cup and Los Rojiblancos the chance for revenge for the 2014 final, during which victory was snatched by a late Sergio Ramos equaliser in normal time.

Real started brightly, drawing a superb save from Jan Oblak when a powerful Gareth Bale free-kick was turned towards goal by Casemiro:

In the 53rd minute, another excellent Atlei chance was put just wide by Stefan Savic:
In the 70th minute, an unusually quiet Karim Benzema had an opportunity denied by Oblak:
A few minutes later, Pepe put on some of his trademark theatrics:
With 11 minutes of normal time remaining, Juanfran found Yannick Carrasco with a great cross for the equaliser:

As it went to extra time, there was no time for niceties among the spectators:
Bale suffered a cramp in extra time after a botched attempt at an overhead kick:
Shortly before it went to penalties, Pepe was guilty of yet more playacting, prompting an unusual response from referee Mark Clattenburg:

In the subsequent penalty shootout, Juanfran missed his kick, allowing Cristiano Ronaldo to emerge as the hero of Real's 11th European Cup.
