Manchester United, Liverpool Fined by UEFA: Latest Comments and Reaction
Manchester United and Liverpool have both been hit with fines by UEFA stemming from crowd trouble during their UEFA Europa League clashes earlier this season.
As reported by Kristian Walsh of the Liverpool Echo, both clubs have been sanctioned for "illicit chanting," "crowd disturbances" and "throwing objects," while United have also been fined for "blocking stairways" and Liverpool have been fined for "setting off fireworks" and "kicking off late."
Liverpool will be forced to pay a total of £43,577, while United will have to stump up £44,342, per BBC Sport.

According to the Press Association (h/t the Guardian), the two teams were fined circa £30,000 each for the chants, with the remainder added due to the aforementioned issues.
It’s also stated that half of the amounts charged in respect of chanting will be suspended for two years on a probationary basis.
Rob Harris of the Associated Press provided all the key details:
According to Walsh, Liverpool’s fine for illicit chanting is in reference to cries of “Manchester is full of s--t” from their supporters. It’s noted songs from both sets of supporters about the Munich air disaster and the Hillsborough tragedy have been overlooked by European football's governing body.

The eternal rivals were drawn against each other in Europe’s second-tier club competition, with Liverpool emerging as emphatic 3-1 victors on aggregate. Goals from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino gave the Reds a 2-0 win at Anfield, before Philippe Coutinho cancelled out Anthony Martial's opener at Old Trafford in the second leg.
Walsh added that Liverpool are also awaiting the result of other charges involving their supporters' actions, including the use of pyrotechnics in both of their matches against Borussia Dortmund in the following round, as well as in the final, where they lost 3-1 against Sevilla in Basel, Switzerland.
