La Liga Fixtures 2016: Schedule, Live Stream and Week 38 Predictions

James DudkoMay 12, 2016

Barcelona need one more win to retain La Liga's title and disappoint capital-city rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Three points in Granada will mean the trophy stays with the Blaugrana.

Of the capital-city foes, it's Real who have the best chance of altering the course of history since they trail Barca by just a single point. But head coach Zinedine Zidane will need more than just three priceless away points against Deportivo La Coruna. He'll also be counting on a massive and unlikely favour from Granada.

Meanwhile, Atleti are likely still ruing last week's 2-1 defeat to already-relegated Levante, but they can warm up for the UEFA Champions League final against Real by beating Celta Vigo.

Luis Suarez can seal a double reward by finding the net in Granada. He can secure the Pichichi as Spain's top scorer, as well as likely ensure the title if he adds to the 37 league goals already to his credit, per WhoScored.com.

The Uruguayan has been exceptional since signing for the club in 2014. He's added another dimension for defences to consider as they try and shackle talisman Lionel Messi.

Now Suarez can snap the dominance Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo have held over Spain's Golden Boot in recent seasons.

Manager Luis Enrique told the club's official site (h/t Eurosport) how Suarez's clinical instincts in the box have helped him find the net so often.

He said: "Sometimes relying too much on one player can hurt you, but if the team plays its game, Luiswho is lethal in the areawill have plenty of chances to score goals. It's not just the goals, it's the way the team plays that lets him score."

With Messi and Neymar likely to tie Granada defenders in knots out wide, Suarez is sure to profit from extra room in the areas where he does the most damage.

With so much at stake, both on an individual and club level, expect Barca's No. 9 to deliver when it really counts.

More heroics from Suarez will leave Los Blancos frustrated. In all honesty, Real approach their game with Depor in something of a tricky position.

The club is already preparing for the Champions League final against Atleti but hasn't won the domestic title since the 2011/12 season. So Los Blancos really need to go for it on the final matchday.

That means Zidane must choose a strong squad in Deportivo, but the Frenchman may be without jet-heeled wide forward Gareth Bale.

Bale will be a big miss for Real on the final day.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star is a doubt for the final week of the league season as he tries to get fit for European duty, according to Ed Malyon of the Daily Mirror.

Bale's absence would increase the pressure to get some goals from midfield. So Germany international Toni Kroos needs to step up and show off his incredible shooting power.

At the bottom of the table, the big game involves Rayo Vallecano's bid to avoid relegation. Manager Paco Jemez is confident his team will deliver against already condemned Levante, per ESPN's Dermot Corrigan:

Jemez will need leading scorer Javi Guerra to add a flourish to Rayo's unified approach. If the 34-year-old and fellow attacker Miku fire, Vallecano will retain top-flight status for another season, provided Real Betis avoid defeat at home to Getafe and Sporting Gijon don't beat Villarreal.

But it's the destination of the title that will dominate headlines during the final weekend of the season. While Real have done well to carry the fight to the last game, it's too much to think Granada can keep Suarez and Co. quiet.
