EPL Table: 2016 Top Scorers, Standings After Post-Week 37 Premier League Scores
Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero moved within a single goal of the Premier League’s top-scorer’s list during his team’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal in Week 37, but the result means The Citizens no longer control their own destiny in the race for next year’s UEFA Champions League.
Rivals Manchester United sit two points behind manager Manuel Pellegrini’s side, but they still have a match in hand.
Olivier Giroud finally broke his scoring slump in the contest, while Kevin De Bruyne and Alexis Sanchez also got on the board.

Recap
Current leading scorer Harry Kane didn’t find the target during Spurs’ 2-1 loss against Southampton, allowing Aguero to close the gap at the top of the table to a single goal.
Per OptaJoe, the Argentinian has been in sensational form of late:
Aguero opened the score for City after eight minutes, but Giroud quickly equalised for Arsenal with a powerful header.
The Frenchman hadn’t scored a Premier League goal since the 3-3 draw against Liverpool in January, and Mirror Football couldn’t help but take a shot:
De Bruyne gave the lead back to the hosts early in the second half with a wonderful goal, but once again, City’s defence couldn’t preserve the lead, as Sanchez produced a fine finish to put The Citizens’ top-four chances in serious doubt.
Per the club’s official Twitter account, Pellegrini believes it would be a shame if City were to lose their ticket for next year’s Champions League on the final matchday:
Tottenham’s poor form continued with a 2-1 loss against Saints on Sunday, with Steven Davis scoring both goals for the visitors. With the result, Spurs are suddenly in real danger of finishing below the Gunners once again.
Heung-Min Son had given the hosts the perfect start by opening the score after just 16 minutes, but Spurs, who were without a handful of suspended stars, including Dele Alli, played well below their usual standard.
Bleacher Report UK thinks the fans will be anything but happy:
Spurs haven’t finished above Arsenal since 1995, and after the wonderful season the team has had, it would be an incredible shame if St Totteringham’s Day became a reality on the final day of the season. Spurs will face Newcastle United in their final match, while Arsenal host Aston Villa.
In Sunday’s other contest, Joe Allen and Firmino guided Liverpool to a routine win over Watford.
